I took another look at your material and I understand it a bit more now.
You’re the only student I’ve ever had to try this style of comedy.
All of your stuff is really good. Good attitude.
You’re trying to make a point you’re your jokes.
I just feel you can make a stronger point with strong images – which I see you do in a lot of stuff – I just didn’t see it in class tonight.
I like what you’re going for with your stand up and that is to talk about issues – having a point to your jokes.
In class, I felt there was too much point and not enough punch. But after a second look at your material I can see there’s lots of punch – you just need to edit a bit.

Also what kind of asshole compares someone to Sarah Silverman but suggests its something negative. Fuck you.
He also said I was great at social commentary like Lenny Bruce but thats not a very good comedic route to take because its not the classic structure of just set up, punch line, set up, punch line.
Uh isn’t it up to me what I want my comedic voice to be?

Uh not going to lie. Tonights class was pretty bullshit.
I got told I was being racist (“I come from a Polish family that survived the depression & WWII so naturally were very cheap, what can I say we learned it from the jews”) though when other people made the exact same style jokes they were praised for it.
Also someone stole some of my joke premises for their own jokes (which weren’t even funny).
I’m just in a shitty mood about it right now. And I really don’t have the same sense of humor as the instructor. He hit it big in the 80s with lame “Seinfeldesque” jokes & has no idea what modern comedy is.
He said only people like Louis CK & Sarah Silverman can get away with the kind of comedy I want to do because they’re already established.
The man is a fucking idiot. & the other fools in the room just do whats been spoon fed to them with no risk or chance.
I never want to play down to an audience. I want an audience to rise to my level. I hate pandering & if you don’t have something poignant to say then don’t say anything. Life is lame, comedy shouldn’t be. END RANT.
